At my school, the first Schusterman book I read was 'The Schwa Was Here' for an assignment. I loved it so much, I winded up two weeks ahead of the class, and I checked out all of his books from the library whenever possible!! I always have one with me, and there's never a time I'm tired of reading (or rereading) them.

My best friend, who was not in my class, wanted to know why I was always reading. She herself was not a big reader and preferred movies or video games. So, I recommended both 'The Schwa Was Here' and 'Full Tilt' to her--and that really got her into reading! Now, she reads so much, I'm afraid to think our roles might have switched!
